Apr 30: Prep For Boredom

When I first heard about covid, my mind started racing.  Coughing. Loss of smell. Highly contageous. Released on purpose. Inject bleach? Horse mdds? Shine a light ... up .. where?!  Sorry...don't get me started.

But my main concern ...

See, my son had only a few months prior (mid-June 2019) been released from the hospital. He had had a brain surgery which caused a stroke, coma, and a plethora of side effects. He had to relearn to walk, talk, hold a cup, and much more.

If a pandemic quarantine / lockdown was going to happen, I needed to be ready.

Hygiene? Check. Food? Check. Extra seizure meds? Check. Water? Check. Projects and/or crafts to keep us busy? Uh, not nearly enough.

First, I figured I would just prep for six months or so. Then I went to the Dollar Tree store and got all kinds of things. I placed an order through Amazon. I got out six cardboard boxes and labled then by month.

Each got a snack or three, a book, a dvd or blu-ray disk, stuff to do a project (which he hated!), and so on.  He got to choose one thing from the box every few days.

I ended up re-using the boxes as the quarantine dragged on.  [I called them the "bored boxes"].

But all of this prepping made me think, so I excitedly researched and wrote 'The Bored Book".  I ended up doing quite a few from my Bored Book list. Such fun!

The worst of the covid pandemic is over, but the way things look in the USA, we might still need a supply of Bored Boxes.

Plus this book can be used at home when recovering from a medical something, winter blizzards, or just about any time.

Let me know what you think.  Vikki

.......

My 28 year old (but mentally and emotionally is about 12) son, Weslee, has intractable epilepsy, autism, OCD, ADHD and lots of side effects from lots of brain surgeries. After a week stay at the Cleveland Clinic in 2024, his team of doctors is suggesting more brain surgeries. We need help to get there and back plus with copays, etc.  Please donate through the link below then share this link: https://gofund.me/085ca903 ..

Pandemic Book

Completed writing this book and uploaded it to Amazon yesterday. It has a LOT of information on not only the CoVid-19 pandemic but also Ebola, Entero, and other health scenarios.

Good for preppers and concerned people of all kinds.

Am now waiting for Amazon and KDP to approve it for release. As soon as it is, I will provide links.

Book on CoronaVirus-19 Pandemic Prep

I am almost ready to release my comprehensive book on preparing for serious health situations.

When I first became interested in prepping, I gave a lot of thought to possible scenarios. So many possibilities, and the whole 'zombie apocalypse ' was barely thought.  I had started writing a whole series way back when, but life got in the way.

Since the attack of CoVid-19 / Coronavirus in 2019, I pulled out my partially-written manuscripts and started massively researching and then writing.

Thing is ... there is new information every day...from where it has spread, to deaths from it, to masks being stolen from hospitals, to India no longer exporting medications or ingredients to make same. Today I heard China is trying to lay the blame for the outbreak on the USA!

My book on pandemics and other health situations is almost ready. The goal is to release this book on Amazon this coming week. I hope you will find helpful information in it.

Book Series for Prepping

As some of you know, I am working on a series of books about prepping for almost anything...from accidents, financial disasters, health pandemics (yes, including the 2019 Corona Virus and Ebola), EMPs, contaminated water sources, natural events like hurricanes, a terrorist attack and even personal disasters. It will also include my "Meals in Jars" book (which I am renaming!) and my prepping journals.

I come to you because, although I have titles for each individual book, I can't seem to come up with a good title to the whole series.

Help!!!

Please comment below, or at my Instagram @survivalcookingliving with your suggestion.  Winner will receive a free book from the series (you will get to choose which).

DEADLINE: February 20, 2020.

Thanks!

Recipes for Apples

How exciting! While I'm waiting for Hubby to finish shaving and showering and getting ready for our big day, and Son is doing schoolwork (yes, even on a Holiday!), I'm working on our recipes for apples.

We decided to come up with lots of e-books for recipes, and are separating them out by main ingredient. Thought we'd start with apples (we recently picked a whole tub full). This morning, Hubby gathered all of our cookbooks and my special recipe files. I'm going through them, looking at my notes and pulling cards. I've already come up with 27 apple recipes, and still have to finish going through our family's cookbooks.

Then... we'll spend the next week making delicious apple goodies... from Waldorf Salad to Apple Brown Betty to Ambrosia and Apple Cake. Some are lactose-free, some are gluten-free, some are heart-healthy, and MOST use stored foods. Some are all of them! And ALL are delicious! Most will even pass my Son-Test.

Recipe e-book will be available hopefully by April 2009.

Ok, it's my turn for the shower, and then I need to get the green bean cassarole in the oven. Son is done with schoolwork (finally) and needs to walk the dog before taking his own shower. Wonder if I should curl my hair?

Happy Thanksgiving, EVERYONE!
